Former Folkestone ferry could return as preservation group are ready to bid at auction
Copied from an online article from the Hawkinge Gazette Feb 02, 2019 - 08:57 AM
The Sealink Historic Ferries preservation group is in a race to buy the former ro/ro ferry mv Horsa which started her career at Folkestone on the cross channel routes.
The auction is set to take place next week.
It's understood the group had been in delicate negotiations with the Greek owners of the ferry which had lain unused since 2013.
It now appears that the vessel has been placed for sale to the highest bidder on 6 February with breakers yards also in the running.
The group has posted on their Facebook site relating this recently but they are still very hopeful of finally succeeding in buying the vessel ahead of a return, via towing, to the UK at Southampton later this year.
Let us all hope they are right and wish them every success at the auction!
